I love the feeling of my cozy home during the holidays. It feels full, festive and inviting. I wish I could say I haven’t thought about how empty and cold it will feel when colorful decorations and the Christmas tree aroma is gone. It can be a hard transition from holiday music and celebrations to the cold months of January and February. Last week, I stumbled upon a happiness hack from the The Happiness Podcast by Gretchen Rubin that posed a strategy to deal with the winter blues. She suggested being mindful about scheduling events you look forward too. These happy “dates” could be small (happening often), medium (quarterly) or large (once a year). A playdate with a girlfriend would be small, a concert or massage could be categorized as medium, and a weekend away with a spouse might be large. Whether the event is small or large, these happy “dates” give you something to look forward too and spice up or ease your everyday routine.
At McDaniel Nutrition, we also have plans to launch little and big services. My personal goal in 2017 is to engage more with our clients and audience. One venture we are currently working towards will be programming/services created for parents of young children. As a mom of young children myself, I know parents like myself deserve a little extra attention. It can be challenging to raise healthy eaters, but we strive to do so because it is something we value. We need a place to go for sound and credible recommendations, plus support. Our pediatricians are time-crunched, internet information is conflicting, and advice from a parent peer might not be right for our own child(ren). When you become a member of this group, our team of dietitians will offer you an invitation to be included in a private Facebook community filled with parents like yourself. In this community, you can ask questions to our dietitians and other parents and trust communications will be moderated by our expert dietitians. Facebook LIVE videos will deliver valuable and interactive content. As a member, you will also receive weekly meal plans delivered to your email inbox every Friday and receive discounts for online workshops. Finally, we are here to remind you that you are doing an amazing job. Let’s be there to build each other up – it does take a village.
If you are interested or know a mom or dad who might be, SIGN UP HERE to receive your first Friday meal planning email on Jan 6th, 2017. We can’t wait to see you there.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you, from our family! Love, Jennifer
