Hello! My name is Mary Wissmann and I am so thrilled to announce that I am joining the team of dietitians at McDaniel Nutrition Therapy.

Allow me to introduce myself. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended the University of Missouri where I earned an undergraduate degree in Dietetics and a masters in Nutritional Sciences. I became a Registered Dietitian 11 years ago. My dad once told me, “Find a profession that doesn’t feel like work, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Find a profession that doesn’t feel like work, and you’ll never work a day in your life.

That is exactly how I feel about my career as a dietitian. I have a passion for good food, good health, and helping others. Few things bring me as much joy and excitement as watching my clients achieve better health for themselves and their families.

I am a wife and mother of three young children, ages 5, 3, and 8 months. I understand the challenges of getting a healthy meal on the table, making smart food choices with a hectic lifestyle, and making your physical and mental health a priority while being pulled in many different directions. I believe in a holistic approach to weight management and good health. I am not focused primarily with the number on the scale. Instead, while we are working together, I want to help you feel better, manage stress better, sleep better, live more mindfully, and make food and physical activity choices that make you feel better from the inside out. My areas of expertise include weight loss and weight management, diabetes self-management, pregnancy and postpartum nutrition, and helping parents raise responsible, healthy eaters.

I have spent the past 11 years counseling individuals, conducting research as a University faculty member, teaching community nutrition and health programs, and leading community health initiatives. My career has brought me to almost every inch of this city, crisscrossing the state, and around the country. Whether I’m speaking at a conference, training a small group of non-profit agencies, or working with an individual on achieving their weight loss goals, I bring the same enthusiasm for this work and commitment to helping my clients achieve success. That is what I look forward to bringing to McDaniel Nutrition Therapy and to each of you. Jennifer and I share so much in common, but most importantly we’re both committed to a personalized, practical, and sustainable approach to supporting your best health. I look forward to meeting many of you very soon!
